Touring a water treatment plant, making jewellery, managing waste at home, and learning the basics of making tea are all part of Envirohub BOP's month of events in the week ahead.

Envirohub BOP is running a full calendar of events during March for Tauranga, Rotorua and Western Bay of Plenty with daily activities, workshops, seminars and events.

Ever wondered about the water supply in Tauranga? What happens after you flush and what happens before you take a shower or boil the jug?

Coming up on Thursday, March 21, the public is invited to take a tour of the Chapel Street Water Plant.

Come find out on a guided tour with Tauranga City Council staff. Unfortunately, it is not a wheelchair-friendly venue so participants will need to have mobility to attend this event at 10am on Thursday, March 21 at 75 Chapel Street, Tauranga.

Rongoā Maori Introduction Workshop

On Saturday, March 23, starting at 9.30am, come and learn the basics of Rongoa Maori and make a soothing tea perfect for the winter months ahead.  Participants will take home their own drink and dried leaves to start their own journey.

Korero on tikanga, sustainable and traditional practices and identification. There will be a demonstration on how to make Rongoā drink from selected plant material which includes a dried and bagged-up Rongoā rakau to take home. Learn native plant identification, tikanga and uses and benefits. Make a Rongoā tea to enjoy together.

Jewellery Workshop

At 10am, Sunday, March 24, Envirohub BOP are running a Jewellery Workshop called 'Waste To Jewellery' at 31B Glasgow Street, Tauranga.

Learn how to upcycle plastic waste that cannot be recycled, into trendy plastic jewellery, using simple jewellery-making techniques. You will take home a pair of earrings or a pendant made to your own design.

Wast-Ed with Kate

Get 'Wast-ed with Kate' at a two-hour seminar from 6pm - 8pm, Tuesday, March 26.

In this chaotic time of consumerism and climate change, we are facing some big challenges that we need to start facing head-on!
