Tauranga residents have another year before they have to make the digital TV change.
Television in New Zealand will be going digital at different stages. Hawke's Bay and the West Coast of the South Island went digital last month.
Tauranga residents have until next year to switch over to digital television.
Going Digital community advisor Andrew Baillie says people don't need a new TV to go digital but most residents will need some new equipment to keep watching television.
'After December 1, 2013, everyone in Tauranga and across the Bay of Plenty will need to be watching Freeview or SKY.
'The change will also affect every TV, DVD or video recorder a person wants to continue using after the move to digital TV.”
People wanting to find out more about going digital will be able to have their questions answered by Andrew when he visits The Warehouse in Tauranga on Thursday, October 25, between 10.30am and 1.30pm.
For those who already have a UHF aerial or satellite dish on their roof, the move to digital TV can be as simple as buying a set-top box and hooking it up to the existing aerial or satellite dish lead, says Andrew.
'Everyone can find out what they need to go digital by visiting www.goingdigital.co.nz/myhouse and entering the address where the TV is located.”
