Police are responding to a three vehicle crash, involving two motorbikes on Matapihi Road, near Bayfair Drive, Mount Maunganui.

The crash was reported around 6.20pm.

Two people are being transported to hospital with serious injuries, says a police spokesperson.

"The Serious Crash Unit has been advised.

"The road is blocked and motorists are advised to expect delays."
