Are you thinking about putting your name forward for the Waihī Beach Community Board by-election?  

Nominations are open for another six days – so now is your chance to be your community’s representative. 

The Waihī Beach Community Board is looking to fill a vacant seat, following the resignation of its deputy chair, Alan Kurtovich, in August 2023.  

It is a great privilege to be a member of a community board, and demonstrates the commitment that members’ have to their region.  

Community board members will have strong networks within the Waihī Beach community, keep up to date on local issues and be willing to influence change for the betterment of residents in the Waihī Beach ward.  

To be eligible to stand for election, candidates must be enrolled as a Parliamentary elector, along with being a New Zealand citizen. They also must be nominated by two electors of the Waihī Beach Ward area.

Nomination papers can be found on the Western Bay of Plenty District Council website, or at the locations listed below. Nominations close on Friday, September 22, 2023, at midday.  

By-election key dates: 

· nominations open/roll open Friday, August 25, 2023 

· nominations close/roll closes midday Friday, September 22, 2023  

· voting opens Friday, September 27, 2023 

· voting closes midday Saturday, November 18, 2023.
