A woman and an infant plunged to their deaths at about 5.22pm on Wednesday.

The pair fell from Auckland Harbour Oaks Hotel and Apartment facilities on Gore St near the city centre.

It's not known what the relationship between the two is and Police secured the scene in the swimming pool area of the complex while inquiries are carried out.

The bodies of the two deceased will remain in situ for some time until Police complete a scene examination.

No further information is available at this stage.
