Work on a stormwater upgrade and new raised pedestrian crossing are set to start today in Pāpāmoa.

From today, Monday, September 11, a culvert upgrade will begin on Evans Road, where it overlaps with the Te Ara o Wairākei reserve.

Thiis work is part of requirements to meet the Bay of Plenty Regional Council stormwater consent regulations for the Pāpāmoa area along the Te Ara o Wairākei reserve.

At the same time, a raised pedestrian crossing on Evans Road will be installed to connect both sides of the Te Ara o Wairākei trail.

Works are expected to be completed by the end of December. "To minimise disruption, we have planned activity to ensure the road will remain open to traffic throughout," says a Tauranga City Council spokesperson.

"This requires two weeks of stop/go management to allow the construction team time to widen the road.  "We apologise for any inconvenience while Tauranga City Council undertake these essential water resilience works."
