SunLive received multiple reports of the fire this morning.

Thick, black smoke could be seen coming from the fire from Cameron Road and from Fraser Cove.

Fire and Emergency New Zealand northern fire communications shift manager Lyn Crosson says they also received multiple calls to the fire.

Crews from from Greerton, Tauranga and Mount Maunganui attended the fire.

Lyn says the house was "well alight" when crews arrived on scene.

"We’re just looking at a residential property, the fire has been extinguished and we are just in the process of doing overhaul, so just dampening down and just making sure its totally extinguished and fire investigator has also popped along to have a look at the possible cause of that."
