Visitors and residents at Waihī Beach are spotting some colourful parrots.
Recently, sightings of a flock of rainbow lorikeets have been reported in the area.
The Bay of Plenty regional council says the bird is often mistaken for rosellas.
As rainbow lorikeets are considered pests by the Department of Conservation after illegally being released in Auckland during the 1990s, the Bay of Plenty Regional Council is asking anyone who has spotted the birds to get in touch.
In a post to Facebook, the regional council says to look out for the bright blue neck when spotting rainbow lorikeets.
"If you have seen rainbow lorikeets (not rosellas) please get in touch," the post reads.
"Contact our customer service team on 0800 884 880."
