A woman has died after attending a music festival in Mount Maunganui.
Police are making inquiries into the death of a woman who died in Tauranga Hospital on January 8 and says that the coroner will ultimately rule on the cause of death.
Festival organiser Toby Burrows says the woman became ill on leaving the Bay Dreams music festival on January 3, and was treated by medical staff outside the festival stadium at Trustpower Baypark in Mt Maunganui.
'We don't have any information on the cause of death. I suspect it is with the coroner. We know that a female who was with medical staff outside the festival was transported by ambulance to hospital and later passed,” says Toby.
'We are deeply saddened by this news, and our heartfelt sympathies and respect go out to the woman's family and friends.”
Bay Dreams is an annual festival which took place this year in Mt Maunganui on January 3 followed by Nelson on January 5.
Ten-time Grammy-nominated artist Diplo headlined the event as well as Sticky Fingers, Hybrid Minds and Denzel Curry.
