A windy and wet Wednesday

More wet and windy weather is expected today as Ex Tropical Cyclone Hale moves over the North Island.

WeatherWatch is forecasting showers for the upper North Island, while rain this morning for Auckland eases.

'Some rain for Bay Of Plenty eases this afternoon. Sunny spells break through this afternoon for Northland.

'Southwesterly winds strengthen during the day becoming strongest over the Auckland region with a chance of coastal gales then easing overnight.

'Rain for the lower North Island with heavy falls, especially south of Napier in the east and about Taranaki, easing this evening. Southeasterly winds are strong to gale force, tending to the south this afternoon then easing from this evening.

'North of Napier in the east early rain clears then some sun may break through, rain or showers pushing back in this evening as southerly quarter winds push northwards, there could be a thunderstorms on this change.”
