One person is dead following a workplace incident in the Bay of Plenty.

Police attended reports that a person was injured in an incident in Tutaetoko Road, Toatoa, Ōpōtiki at about 10.30am on Monday.

"Sadly the person died at the scene," says a police spokesperson.

"WorkSafe will be advised.

"Our thoughts are with the person's family and friends at this difficult time."
