Wet weather that has swept the country is playing havoc with the last scheduled day of action in the calendar year in both the men's Ford Trophy and women's Hallyburton Johnstone Shield New Zealand national championships.
All 12 men's and women's teams will shortly head into T20 mode, the start of the Dream11 Super Smash just days away - a doubleheader between Northern Brave's men and women and the Canterbury Kings and Magicians at Bay Oval, Mt Maunganui this Friday, 23 December - with the men's 'Grand Final rematch' under lights.
Northern Brave's Caitlin Gurrey has already warmed up for the big hits, yesterday scoring one of the highest innings in New Zealand Domestic one-day history with her 183 for Northern Districts.
Only Jamie How (222, Central Stags, The Ford Trophy), George Worker (194, Central Stags, The Ford Trophy) and Suzie Bates (183 not out in the Hallyburton Johnstone Shield) have bettered that in more than 50 years of contests.
Fresh off the record win, Northern Districts women are not in action on Sunday - as only four of the six female teams are scheduled to play a double round this weekend, while ND and the Central Hinds head home in a split round.
Wellington Blaze and the Otago Sparks have a rain delay at the Cello Basin Reserve, the toss to take place at 2pm with both teams capable of overtaking Northern Districts at the top of the table today, after having been rained off in yesterday's round. LIVESCORES | LIVESTREAM | UPDATES
Also rained off yesterday, the Auckland Hearts and Canterbury Magicians have got another start at Kennards Hire Community Oval in Auckland where Canterbury won the toss and bowled, Lea Tahuhu - who took a bag yesterday before the washout - and Gabby Sullivan already have two wickets each with the Hearts 53/6.
The Magicians can also seize the competition lead today in the fifth of the 10 regular season rounds (with one rescheduled match for Auckland and Wellington still to be finalised). LIVESCORES | LIVESTREAM
In the men's Ford Trophy, after a weather-delayed start in Napier, the Wellington Firebirds are looking to go two from two against the Central Stags whom they have sent in at McLean Park in a match reduced to 48 overs.
On Ford Trophy debut, Callum McLachlan has his first catch behind the stumps while former NZ U19 allrounder Will Clark, also on List A one-day debut, has come into the Stags playing XI as a late change for an ill Doug Bracewell. LIVESCORES & LIVESTREAM
In Queenstown, rain has already interrupted the match after the Otago Volts won the toss and put the Auckland Aces in, the Aucklanders 12/0 after 4.1 overs. LIVESCORES & LIVESTREAM
And at Hagley Oval, Canterbury and Northern Districts have yet to get on the park due to wet weather. Should the teams get on the park, Wellington's Tyron Davies will make his Domestic List A umpiring debut. LATEST UPDATES
