A ridge of high pressure should weaken on Tuesday, allowing a low to move down
from the subtropics bringing rain to the upper North Island, says a MetService spokesperson.

"Another low is forecast to approach from the north on Thursday."

MetService say that on Tuesday there is moderate confidence that rainfall accumulations will meet warning criteria over Northland, and low confidence there on Thursday and Friday
.
"Over Auckland, Coromandel Peninsula and western Bay of Plenty, there is low
confidence both Tuesday, Thursday and Friday,' says a MetService spokesperson.

"On Thursday and Friday, there is also low confidence of severe easterly gales
over the northern half of the North Island, as indicated on the chart."

MetService say that there is some uncertainty regarding the track and speed of the
second low.

"If it were to approach sooner, the upper North Island could see more significant rainfall Thursday and Friday."
