Motorists are being advised to avoid using Minden Road in Te Puna this morning.

A Tauranga City Council spokesperson says the road, near 188, is blocked by a fallen tree.

"Residents south of 188 Minden Road may need to use an alternative route.

"Contractors are on their way to clear the scene."
