Fire emergency services are at the scene of a fire in Tauriko.

A Sunlive reporter at the scene says a generator appears to have caught fire.

"There was a generator on fire inside. They pulled it outside, it was burnt and smoking."

The fire is at a large industrial building located between State Highway 29 and Te Ahi Rise.

"There are four or five fire trucks there with quite a few fire fighters."

It is understood that the alarm for the fire was raised just after 11am.
