Barricades have been set up at Parliament in anticipation of a Freedoms and Rights Coalition protest demonstration today.

Large concrete blocks were installed at the gates on Sunday night, to prevent any vehicles getting through.

The Parliament end of Lambton Quay, lower Molesworth St, and Kate Sheppard Place have also been closed.

A protest convoy is due to leave Tauranga from the carpark outside the Tauranga Yacht Club at 11am and head to Taupo after first looping around through Mount Maunganui. The protesters will be joining up with other convoys in towns along the way to Wellington, arriving in the capital later today, before assembling for a protest march on Tuesday morning.

Police expect traffic disruption to be minimal, but are asking people to plan ahead.

Metlink says buses wil be detoured.

Speaker Trevor Mallard says Parliament's grounds will remain open, and while protests are welcome, they must only take place during daylight hours and not continue overnight.

I'm sure what's left of our police force have got more to do than sort protestors out. Get the army in (have we got one?). Maybe the Duck needs to play more music, or turn the sprinklers on again. Just get yourselves a job, and do something positive for the community you bunch of loosers.

Seriously?

No one even cares about their cause anymore. They lost all credibility during the last protest. Grow up and go home.

Surely

This goes beyond a person's right to protest when extra Police are brought in, others on standby, barricades in place, streets closed, traffic diverted. I think fair game puts it perfectly. Well said. What church leader, man of God carries on like this. To quote fair game (not picking on you mate) Grow up and go home.

Quite like the idea

Barricades to keep the politicains in would be good and also cut off any of their words escaping their echo chamber.

Pot calling the kettle black

Take a good look at yourself, you extract a huge amount of money from your members to fund your personal lifestyle. You claim money from the hard working tax payer of NZ to fund your personal lifestyle. You and your cronies don't even represent 1% of NZ. Stop contributing to our tax bill and inflation by your dumb actions adding costs to policing and being a pubic nuisance

Indeed his church has tax free exemptions so we actually sponsor his lifestyle and his activities. His slogan I believe "Enough is enough" of our taxpayer money
