Near drowning at hot pools

An eight year old boy was taken to Tauranga Hospital after a 'near drowning” at the Mount Maunganui Hot Salt Water Pools on Tuesday afternoon.
St John medical staff were called to the hot pools on Adams Avenue at 12.49pm.

Ambulance staff say the boy was taken to hospital in a moderate condition.
Tauranga Hospital spokesperson Carol Wollaston says the boy is still in hospital in a stable condition, but did not expect him to be there for much longer.
SunLive approached the manager at the Mount Maunganui Hot Salt Water Pools for information about the incident but he refused to comment, saying only Tauranga City Aquatic Limited's CEO and general manager Tania Delahunty could talk about the incident.
Staff at TCAL told SunLive Tania was not available and that an incident report was being written. It is expected to be available on Friday.
