Today the Ministry of Health is reporting 7061 community cases, 415 hospitalisations and 5 deaths.

The seven-day rolling average of community case numbers is 7702 – last Monday it was 7479.

Today's reported deaths take the total number of publicly reported deaths with Covid-19 to 978 and the 7-day rolling average of reported deaths is 17.

Of the people whose deaths we are reporting today; three people were from the Southern region; one was from Auckland and one was from Bay of Plenty.

One person was in their 50s, one person was in their 70s, and three were aged over 90.

Of these people, three were women and two were men.

"This is a very sad time for whānau and friends and our thoughts and condolences are with them at this time," says a spokesperson for the Ministry of Health.

"Out of respect, we will be making no further comment."
