UPDATE 7.06AM: State Highway 35 is closed in the Bay of Plenty.
A police spokeperson says SH35 is closed in the vicinity of Opape Beach east of Ōpōtiki while Police respond to an incident reported at around 6.15am.
"Motorists are advised to seek alternative routes and avoid the area if at all possible."
EARLIER:
A serious incident is being reported on State Highway 35, in the Bay of Plenty.
Waka Kotahi Transport Agency is reporting that emergency services are in the area where a "serious incident" has been called in.
The incident is reported to be on SH35, between Opotiki and Te Araroa.
"Delays are possible. An update will be provided as soon as more information is available."
