A 33-year-old woman and a 39-year-old man have been arrested by police in the Eastern Bay of Plenty in relation to drug and firearms offences.

Police carried out raids last week in relation to the trade of methamphetamine in the area and the pair will appear in Whakatāne District Court next month.

'The Eastern Bay of Plenty Precision Targeting Team and Tactical Crime Unit supported by Kawerau and Edgecumbe Police have executed search warrants in both Kawerau and Edgecumbe last week in a continuing, concerted effort to disrupt the methamphetamine trade in the area,” says a police spokesperson.

The 33-year-old woman has been remanded in custody following a search warrant at a Kawerau address. She faces charges of possession of methamphetamine for supply, possession of cannabis for supply and unlawful possession of ammunition.

She will appear in the Whakatane District Court on December 17.

The 39-year-old man has been remanded in custody following a search warrant at an Otakiri address. He faces charges of dealing methamphetamine and unlawful possession of ammunition.

He will appear in the Whakatane District Court on December 7.

'Police are committed to stamping out the devastating methamphetamine trade in the Eastern Bay of Plenty and will continue to put pressure on those who ply this trade, often to our most vulnerable communities,” says a police spokesperson.
