Tauranga Police are looking for a man who exposed himself to two women before running off naked down the street in Papamoa.
The man is reported to have approached two women south of Sunbrae Grove in Papamoa between 3pm and 4pm on July 2 exposing himself to them.
Both of the women quickly walked away from the naked man before reporting it to police.
Detective Senior Sergeant Darryl Brazier says police want to speak with the man before he does it again.
'We want to talk to the person. He has exposed himself to other people on the beach.
'We want to talk to him before he does it again.”
Darryl says other than exposing himself to the women there were no other alarming or indecent acts performed.
The man, believed to be between 35 and 45-years-old, is described as Maori of slim build, about 1.82m tall with a black goatee.
Prior to becoming naked the man was seen to be wearing a black beanie, a black and white checkered hoodie and grey three-quarter length shorts.
He also had a green army satchel slung over his shoulder.
'We want to hear from anyone else who may have seen this guy, or knows who he is.”
Earlier this year residents in Sunbrae Grove, a popular nudist spot, became concerned about nudist behaviour on the stretch of Papamoa beach after a number of complaints about lewd activity.
A community meeting was held where it was decided the beach would be monitored and any evidence of criminal activity will be monitored.
Anyone with information about the man can contact Tauranga Police on 07 577 4300 or anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.

This is what you get by giving an inch. You allow nude bathing on a beach and the next logical step is walking down the street naked. What is it about some sand that makes it ok?? And don't come on here saying it's "expected" on a beach so it's ok.

It is important to understand that this incident has nothing whatsoever to do with normal beach goers such as naturists using the beach. In fact when naturists are present they actively look out for this kind of behaviour and report it to the police making the beach safer for all users.
And the answer is.

Let the public catch him, and put his pecker inbetween 2 bricks.

All genuine naturists would be as repulsed by this disgusting criminal as anyone else, and to suggest there is even the most tenuous of links between he and them is ridiculous nonsense. Rather like declaring that everyone who wears a hoodie is an armed robber! Having said that, I do believe that all the recent publicity accorded to this particular beach area may have served as an excuse for deviants like this guy to crawl out from under their rocks
