Fatal fire victim named, investigation ongoing

Police have named the victim of a fatal fire in Rotorua earlier this month with investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident still ongoing.

Rosanne Louise Thomas, 50, died in the fire on September 3.

'Police are continuing to investigate a fatal fire in Rotorua on 3 September,” says detective inspector Lindsay Pilbrow of Bay of Plenty Police.

'A post-mortem has now been completed and police can now confirm the identity of the deceased.

'She was Rosanne Louise Thomas, aged 50.”

On the day, emergency services were alerted to a shed fire on Froude Street, where one person was found deceased.

'Enquiries are continuing into the cause of the fire and Police are investigating on behalf of the Coroner,” says Pilbrow.

'While our enquiries are ongoing, Police will not be speculating around the circumstances of this incident.

'Police would like to hear from anyone who had contact with Rosanne in the week leading up to the incident.”
