A woman has died as a result of a crash in the Bay of Plenty a week ago.

The crash occurred shortly after 7am, June 21, on State Highway 30.

The woman was transported to hospital in a serious condition following the crash near the intersection with Whirinaki Valley Road.

Police have now confirmed that she passed away in hospital on Friday, June 25.

'Our thoughts are with her whānau and loved ones,” says a police spokesperson.

"Enquiries into the circumstances of the crash are ongoing."
