A person is in critical condition following a crash in the Western Bay of Plenty.

Multiple emergency services were called to Paengaroa after a crash involving an ATV-type motorbike and a tractor.

A police spokesperson says the crash happened at 7.55am on Maungarangi Road.

'It appears to have been a workplace incident involving an ATV-type motorbike and a tractor.”

A St John spokesperson says one ambulance, one First Response Unit, one helicopter from Tauranga, and one manager responded to the scene.

'St John treated and transported one patient in a critical condition by road ambulance to Tauranga Hospital.”

Police say WorkSafe have been notified of the crash.
