UPDATE 10:18AM: A 73-year-old Tauranga man reported missing earlier this week has been found.

Henare was reported missing from his Gate Pa home on Tuesday evening.

Police have been searching for the man, and reached out to the public via social media on Wednesday for any informaiton that would lead to his whereabouts.

In a post on the Bay of Plenty and Taupo Police Facebook page, police say he was found safe this morning.

"We would like to thank the public very much for their assistance with the search effort."

A police spokesperson says he was found near the Kopurererua Stream, between Judea and Gate Pa.

Police are appealing for information about a missing Tauranga man.

Henare, 73, was last seen at his Cameron Road, Gate Pa property Tuesday evening.

"There are concerns for his safety due to his age, mobility issues, the weather, and that he has dementia," says a post on the Bay of Plenty Police and Taupo Facebook page.

"This photo is a few years old, and Henare now wears glasses.

"If you have seen him or have any information to pass to Police, please call 111 straight away and quote event number P046560235."
