A 68-year-old Mount Maunganui man was flown to Auckland for treatment in the Devonport Naval Base hyperbaric chamber by the Trustpower TECT rescue helicopter on Monday.

The man had being diving off the Tauranga coast Sunday afternoon, before beginning to feel unwell after surfacing. He presented to hospital feeling very unwell at about 11pm.

He's thought to have been diving on the Okaparu Reef.
