Criticism continues this morning about the government's Covid-19 messaging in the wake of Aucklanders breaching isolation rules.
Pasifika Medical Association chief executive Debbie Sorensen says official terms such as "casual plus contact" are hard to grasp.
And Manukau councillor Efeso Collins says popular social networks such as TikTok should be in the mix to reach young people.
However, Auckland Mayor Phil Goff doesn't believe prosecuting rule-breakers in the Papatoetoe Covid cluster will achieve much.
The mother of the latest community cases had gone for a walk with the mother of another family identified in the cluster during a level 3 lockdown.
Police say they have not begun an investigation into the rule breach. They say they need information referred to them from the Ministry of Health, which they have not yet received.

Law Breakers

I trust ALL those that break the law will be treated with the same leniency. Especially those that affect entire communities. If you break the law and get caught then YOU PAY THE PENALTY/PRICE. It's not rocket science. Those caught speeding today will get tickets, burglars and thugs will be arrested . . . The deliberate criminals of this lockdown and community transmission should have charges brought against them, PERIOD. This leniency and 'educating' is bloody ridiculous and is costing millions of dollars and people's livelihood. If the PM cared this may very well gave not happened. She needs to quit trying to be a lovey, dovey, yes person.
Team of 5 million???

So the PM keeps banging the team of 5 million thing. When a team performs poorly they may drop the odd player or 2, but mainly it is the captain & the coach that cops the flack! Yes, some of our players have stuffed up, but the coach needs to take responsibility for her team or get out of the way! I don't remember Stephen Kearney slagging off his players before the Warriors sacked him. He accepted responsibility for his & his teams shortfalls. Jacinda needs to be the coach & lead us not our friend & blame everyone else for the mess we are in.

so the message is not getting across. i dont wonder about it when jacinder and blomfield waffle on for 15 to 20 min. people are not interested in what happened last week or even what happened yesterday. cut the waffle and say what's necessary in a few min and people will listen

With all the mis-information we have received to date regarding face-masks efficacy(At the beginning), social distancing etc. (Honestly...I don't think 1m or even 2m is enough). But I guess they had to draw the line somewhere...then move it over and over again apparently. Never trust a politician. Thank the lord Boris J isn't our PM.

How can you say such a thing? Oh yeah, cause you're 100% right. We don't need all greasy waffling and cherries. Then add to it some of the absolute ridiculous questions from the media there. Thank goodness there's an off button but unfortunately we have to take the hype and build-up. She's causing confusion for so many. You're SO right and I can assure you it really . . . . me off too.
