A 51-year-old has been charged with murder following the death of a man in Omanawa.

The victim has been identified as 30-year-old Jamin Roemaata Harrison. He died on January 25 after an incident at a property on McLaren Falls Road.

Western Bay of Plenty Area Investigations Manager Detective Senior Sergeant Craig Rawlinson says the man was charged with murder today.

He will appear in Tauranga District Court on February 24.

"I would like to thank the members of public who came forward to assist Police with the investigation.

"We are unable to release any further information as the matter is now before the court," says Senior Sergeant Craig Rawlinson.
