Police have arrested and charged a man in connection to the death of a woman.

Police were called to a report of an assault at a Kentucky Crescent address in Hamilton at around 11.15pm.

On arrival, a 30-year-old woman was found seriously injured but sadly died at the scene a short time later, says a police spokesperson.

"The 34-year-old man is due to appear in the Hamilton District Court this morning, charged with murder and wounds with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

"Police are not seeking anyone else in relation to this matter.

"A scene guard remains in place at two addresses."
