A section of State Highway 25A in the Coromandel will remain closed this morning following the launch of a homicide investigation.
Detective Senior Sergeant William Loughrin says a body was found on a section of the Kopu-Hikuai Road (SH25A) around 7.30pm on Wednesday.
He says the road is closed this morning as police continue a scene examination.
"A person has been taken into custody in relation to the death and police are not seeking anyone else.
"However, we would like to hear from anyone who saw vehicles speeding and/or following each other along Kopu-Hikuai Road last night, between 7pm and 7.40pm."
