Three year wait for hernia

On 30 March I was on duty driving, one of my patients was a very elderly gentleman in a wheelchair along with his wife for moral support. His wife told me that he has been waiting for a hernia repair for three years, and despite that, made the effort to have a sense of humour, but his good lady said the stress was very bad.
Is that how we treat our elderly, and is that what Simon Bridges calls good services to the public? National and Labour returned my e-mail the Greens did not.

Three year wait for hernia

There are two ways to look at this. First off I am from Auckland and I find the hospital here is 100% better than Auckland without a doubt. If someone has to wait three years there will be good reason for it. Now if m elderly parent needed a hernia op I wouldn't let him / her suffer I would have the poor soul up to Auckland as fast as possible and get the op done privately for $1500. So who takes responsibility here ? entirely the state of the family of the hernia sufferer. We have to stop depending on nanny state a bit these days espec when it is affordable. I can't name the private hospital but they do advertise on the radio regularly up in Auckland on shows like the Leighton Smith talkback show. The greens rarely reply to emails and never if they are unsuportive of some less than brilliant ideas they have Alastair Bethlehem

By taxing us to pay for the die while you wait health system the government are saying THEY are taking responsibility for delivering the healthcare that we need. Unfortunately, just like anything that is FREE to ensure there is enough to go around they have to RATION the services, and this is the result. By forcing us to pay tax they are doing two things: preventing us from being able to afford private health insurance which would guarantee you treatment when YOU Want it instead of when the govt SAY YOU CAN HAVE IT, and the other is lulling people into a false sense of security, making them irresponsible
