Possession of methamphetamine and other drug related charges were a hot topic at the Tauranga District Court on Monday morning.

Three accused offenders appeared in court all via audio visual link, all on similar charges.

Two of the accused are of Fijian nationality and have been charged in connection with the importation of $17 million worth of methamphetamine into Tauranga.

Their charges include possession for supply methamphetamine and import/export methamphetamine.

During their time in court today, both men in their early 30s entered not guilty pleas through their lawyers.

They are set to reappear in court in late March 2020.

The other accused, who appeared on similar charges but for an unrelated case, entered guilty pleas to all six charges he is facing.

He is set to next appear in court for sentencing on March 13.

...who despises our community to this extent should never be allowed here again. If these Fijians are found guilty and they have Citizenship, it should be removed and, after their prison term is served they should be permanently deported. Anyone with this level of selfish, uncaring, greed, does not deserve to be able to live here.
