Police continue to investigate the circumstances leading up to the death of a 56-year-old in Waihi Beach on New Year's Day.

'While the investigation is ongoing, enquiries to date indicate Derrick Hann died of a medical event,” says Detective Senior Sergeant Andrew Saunders.

'The Coroner has been notified.

'Those involved in the disorder incident have been spoken to, and police are not looking for anyone else in relation to this matter.”

Derrick was found in a critical condition at Bowentown Beach Holiday Park just before 1am on Wednesday.

Emergency services were called to the park after reports of disorder.

Derrick was given emergency medical treatment but died at the scene.
