A number of people are reporting a heavy police presence in the Brookfield area this morning.

A caller to the 0800 SUNLIVE news hotline says there have been a lot of police on Kingswood Road since early this morning.

The caller says while a couple of officers have left the area, it looks like detectives are still there.

A police spokesperson says the job appears to the be "routine".

"Appears there is a pre-planned search warrant being carried out in the area."

Police say the armed offenders squad was also called in to assist police.
