A man suffered critical injuries after being bitten on the face by his dog.
The 51-year-old was flown to Tauranga Hospital after the Trustpower TECT Rescue Helicopter was dispatched to Waihi on Sunday.
'A man was bitten in the face by his dog, sustaining serious injuries,” says statement on the rescue helicopter website.
'The man was flown to Tauranga Hospital for immediate medical attention.”
A police spokesperson says it's understood the man suffered a fall and then was attacked by the dog.

There are two sides to every story. Maybe the man might have had a medical mis-adventure and accidently fallen on or over the dog which might have then caused the dogs actions of defense. Who knows until the full story is known of just why the dog acted that way.
