Police are appealing for any information about a distinctive skateboard stolen from the Mount Maunganui area.

"It's pretty distinctive - it's the only one of its kind in the country! Safe to say its owner is very keen to get it back," says a post on the Bay of Plenty Police and Taupo Facebook page.

"The skateboard was stolen on Saturday, September 21, outside The Mount Mellick on Maunganui Road.

"It's an "OWN BOARD” brand board, model W1ASKT.

"If you've got information about this board or its whereabouts, please call 105 and quote file 190923/1505."

Information can also be phoned in anonymously via the Crimestoppers 0800 555 111 line.

Non-emergency information can be given to the police's 105 number.
