A man has been spotted on one of the runways at Tauranga Airport this evening.

A police spokesperson says it appears "we received a report around 6:30pm that someone had been seen on or around the tarmac at Tauranga Airport".

"Police attended and undertook area searches, but have not located any person of interest at this point."

No flights were interrupted as a result of the police callout.
