Armed Police from Tauranga have been called to Paeroa this evening.

Multiple people have messaged SunLive to say they have seen police responding on SH2.

One person said "I've seen seven police cars plus a dog wagon driving with lights and sirens heading on SH2, north of Katikati.”

A police spokesperson says 'Police are responding to reports of a fight between a group of people at a Paeroa address. One person has been taken into custody”.

'There was reports of a firearm that had been discharged, although this is unsubstantiated at this stage”

Armed Offenders Squad from Tauranga have been deployed as a precaution.
