What’s on – dragon boats, softball and home show

Beyond the Garden Path will be an opportunity to see over-the-top magnificent floral headpieces made by local creative people.

Today we are expecting showers easing in the morning then clearing in the afternoon to fine spells. Northwesterlies will be dying out in the evening.

The Bay of Plenty Home Show is on at the Trustpower Arena Baypark today and Sunday from 10am – 5pm. Tickets only $10. More here

Dress in all your floral finery for Te Puke's ‘Beyond the Garden Path' at the Te Puke War Memorial Hall from 1.30pm – 4pm. The floral extravaganza, fashion and entertainment event is a fund raiser by the Kiwicoast Lions supporting Te Puke St Johns Ambulance. More here

The dragon boats will be out on the water today at the Lakeview Quay in Pyes Pa. Come and cheer on your team in this eighth annual fundraiser by the Bay of Plenty Dragon Boat Club. There will be competition from beginners and teams, from businesses, organisations and schools, dressing up and racing each other in ten-person dragon boats. The event runs from 7.30am – 5pm. The Western Bay of Plenty Softball Junior season gets underway today from 9.30am – 12noon at the Carlton St Reserve in Otumoetai with tee-ball, primary softwall, intermediate and college softball. Jan Hellriegel

Jan Hellriegel, a finalist in the 2019 NZ Women of Influence, will be speaking at The Incubator from 4-5pm about music licensing in the film industry, followed by a performance at The Jam Factory at 6.30pm. More here

The Incubator are also showing 15 artists with ‘Exhibition of Exhibitions'. The gallery is open from 5.30-7.30pm.

Dean Flavell and Adrienne Martyn

A Tauranga Heritage Collection photographic exhibition by Adrienne Martyn sponsored by Tauranga Peugeot acknowledging the ancient legends of Poutini, Mata and Hinehoanga is on at Kowhai Interiors & Art Gallery at the 11th Ave Plaza. The exhibition is titled ‘Kaikauhoe Pounamu Taonga o Tauranga Moana' and runs from 9.30am – 2pm, until November 2. More here

The Little Big Markets are on at Papamoa today from 9am – 2pm, at the Papamoa Pony Club. There's plenty of gourmet street food, stalls, live music and activities, including face painting and a petting zoo.

A previous Kaimai School Agricultural Day

Kaimai School are holding their 2019 Agriculture Day at the school, 1853 State Highway 29, Lower Kaimai. Come and join the annual exhibition of everything agricultural. From chickens to calves and everything in between, plus a host of arts and crafts that the children have been working on. There will be food and entertainment from 9am to 1.30pm. More here
