A large quantity of alcohol is in the possession of police after they seized it today from the Filthy Few Motorcycle Club premises on Birch Avenue in Judea.
Inspector Karl Wright-St Clair says police believe the alcohol was to be illegally sold and so they seized it by executing a search warrant.
A police booze bus was brought to Birch Avenue as part of the police's raid on the Filthy Few Motorcycle Club.
One man was arrested for obstruction during the execution of the search warrant.
In April 2010, police raided the pad and seized $19,000 worth of alcohol, which was being sold illegally at the club between 2008 and 2009.
Two club members pleaded guilty to charges of unauthorised sale of alcohol and were fined $2000.

Armed police were used in the raid of the Filthy Few pad today.
'Police will be making further enquiries in relation to the illegal sale of alcohol at the premises and it's likely charges under the Sale of Liquor Act will follow.”
He says police expect to be at the premises for some time and no further comment will be made at this stage.

It's always puzzled me as to what the SWAT team pack into their rucksacks? Perhaps a few snacks to keep them going until smoko? Mind you, they have the skydiving goggles so maybe they parachuted in as a means of surprise and they then gather their chute and pop it in the rucksack for another day? And did nobody tell them it was summer - they must be roasting in that balaclava.
Time to go

The booze bus as well? Were they hoping to catch a few members on their tricycles inside? Heavy handed BS as usual. Must have been a quiet week. Surely resources could have been better used elsewhere, or was this a PR stunt?

They should have got a liquor licence like everyone else then they would not have a problem....apart from the obvious.

One wonders why they needed balaclavas it was obvious they were coppers. Looks like they were armed to. Why need guns the F/F are rarely in ones sight, a pretty insignificant group. Going overboard perhaps or a training session???. If they were selling drugs yes but booze, what the heck they would only be selling to their own kind Alastair Bethlehem
Heres the funny thing.....

If you knew your way around the Sale of Liquor Act you would see that army, fire station and police canteens do not require a licence to sell liquor...but the days of 'police bars' are pretty much at an end and very few operate them now and certainly they are not as they were many years ago...and from what I have seen of the plans for the new police station, there is no 'bar' at all....why can't people get their head around the fact that if you want to sell liquor you have to have a licence...it's a law whether you agree with it or not....
So quinn your saying...

No where in New Zealand there is a Police staion or Fire staion Army canteen etc that dont have a Bar.And By the way Sport I know after 30 years in the industry that if one gang can sell grog to each other but another gang cant....Something is not right. All Im saying is if Police etc dont need a license why do a gang need one to sell each other a beer. Lets have 1 rule for all. And Im far more a freind of the above mentioned services than the Filthy Few

...my reply below didn't go through properly...I was trying to say that there are still some police 'bars' in older stations but as far as operating as they used to they are few and far between and new stations, including Tauranga's when it is built, will not have one...in fact, I believe the Police Department made submissions to the Law Commission on alcohol reform recommending that if bars in police stations continued, they should be subject to the same conditions as all licensed premises and have a licence and certified managers...but the Commission did not accept that submission as far as I'm aware...don't berate police for doing a job...they don't make the laws...if you use the argument of 'one rule for all' then how come taxis and bus drivers and some others are exempt from wearing seatbelts when driving? How is that fair (or even safe)? I think it's unfair to call it hypocracy on behalf of the police when they are just doing their job...
