A Tauranga woman reported missing overnight has been found.

A search and rescue team has been spotted in Welcome Bay this morning, along with police and St John paramedics on Welcome Bay Road, near James Cook Drive

SunLive readers have messaged us on Facebook asking what the search and rescue team is doing.

A police spokesperson says a woman was reporting missing late last night.

"She has been found safe and well this morning."

A photographer at the scene says she was located near the estuary off Welcome Bay Road.

"They were right in the bushes at the entry to the estuary. SAR memebers were seen wrapping her up in a warming blanket."
