Free Google workshop in Whakatane

The Whakatane District Council are supporting the Google My Business event.

Tourism operators, retailers and hospitality businesses are encouraged to attend a free Google My Business workshop in Whakatāne on Tuesday, June 11.

The workshop is being held in association with the Whakatāne District Council, Tourism Bay of Plenty and Miles Partnership, with the focus being on expanding reach, engagement and business growth with Google's products.

Whakatāne Events and Tourism Marketing Advisor Anna Williams says the workshop is worthwhile for business owners to attend even if they already have Google My Business set up.

'We've learned that 46 percent of business listings on Google are not complete, so even if you've set up a listing, you may still not be achieving maximum reach to potential customers,” she says.

'Simply adding your opening hours, and letting people now you're open now can increase searches by 300 percent.”

Anna notes businesses who have completed their Google My Business set up are considered 2.7 times more reputable compared to those who don't have it set up.

The workshop in Whakatāne will specifically focus on businesses in the tourism sector, and those that have domestic or international visitors as part of their customer base, such as cafés, restaurants and retailers.

The workshop is being held at Tuscany Villas, Whakatāne on Tuesday, June 11, from 2.30 until 4.30pm.
