Boat collision victim named

Andrew Edward Wroe is the Rotorua man who was killed after being hit by a boat on Lake Ohakuri.

The 36-year-old was being towed on a sea biscuit when the accident occurred on Monday.

Police named Andrew as the victim today.

They say a group of about 20 friends spent two days camping in the area before the death.

Despite bylaws restricting the speed of two vessels within 30m of each other to five knots, two boats were towing biscuits at about 4pm when the man was hit by the other boat.

The Waikato Regional Council says two harbourmasters are helping police with their investigations.

my thoughts go to this mans family and friends. more care needs to be taken when on the water. an accident that should never of happened
