BOP toddler’s death upgraded to murder inquiry

Police have upgraded the enquiry into the death of a two-year-old girl at Little Waihi, Maketu, to a homicide investigation.

This decision follows the result of a post-mortem of the child, says Detective Senior Sergeant Greg Turner in a statement released by police today.

The little girl's body was found on the tidal flats at Little Waihi on Thursday.

Greg says police attended reports of a disorder in the area at around 10.40am and later discovered the child's body.

'Police continue to appeal to the public for information on this death.

'In particular Police are interested in speaking to anyone who may have stayed in the Bledisloe Holiday Park, Little Waihi, between Monday 18 March and Friday 22 March.”
