Kawerau collision leads to man being charged

Police have confirmed a man has been charged following a collision in Kawerau yesterday.

Charges have been made following a collision between a car and two people in Kawerau on Sunday afternoon.

A police spokesperson says the collision took place on Plunket Street around 3pm on Sunday.

'The 35-year-old man, from Kawerau was due to appear in Whakatane District Court this morning charged with one count of dangerous driving causing injury.

'He will appear in court again on March 27.

'Police are making ongoing enquiries in relation to the incident and further charges are likely.”
