Two brothers swimming in Pukehina have had a lucky escape after they got into trouble off the beach.
The Auckland boys, aged 12 and 10, were plucked from the water by their father and another beach goer around 3.30pm yesterday.
The boys were taken to Tauranga Hospital where they received treatment and were later discharged.
Chief fire officer Errol Watts says the pair had taken on quite a lot of water.
He says they didn't lose consciousness.
