The number 13 might be unlucky for some, but not for Yak 52 pilot John Parker.
John was part of a flight of Yak 52s preparing to land at Tauranga airport on Saturday afternoon for Sunday's D-Day re-enactment.
He throttled back on landing approach, only to have the engine stop altogether. He wasn't going to make the runway, so he landed instead on the Omanu Golf Course - on the 13th fairway.
'He made a text book landing,” says Classic Flyers chief executive officer Andrew Gormley.
It wasn't the end of John's weekend flying though. Classic Flying lent John its own Yak 52 for the solo display.
