Man arrested in relation to BOP armed robbery

A 33-year-old man is facing an aggravated robbery charge after police executed a number of search warrants in Rotorua this morning.

Detective Leonie Smith says Rotorua Police executed a number of search warrants this morning in relation to the aggravated robbery of the Te Ngae Road BP on 10 December 2018.

'A 33-year-old man has been charged with aggravated robbery and will appear in Rotorua District Court on 10 January.

'A second man, aged 39, will also appear on unrelated matters.”

A firearm used in the robbery has not been recovered and Police enquiries are continuing.

'Police would like to hear from anyone who saw anything suspicious in the Lynmore Junction/Isles Road at around 2am on 10 December.”
