Two arrested in Eastern Bay pursuit

Two people have been arrested following a pursuit across the Eastern Bay of Plenty.

The pursuit led police from Rotorua to Kawerau and surrounding forestry areas.

A police media spokesperson says it was initiated following a fleeing driver incident near the Okere Falls area.

“Police tried to stop a vehicle that was travelling towards Kawerau as the vehicle had no registration plates on it.

“The driver failed to stop and Police followed the vehicle for a time.

“Police followed the vehicle across forestry roads before the fleeing vehicle was eventually stopped.

“Two people have been arrested.”
