Power is out in a suburb near Bethlehem this morning.

Powerco reports that 462 properties are without power in Wairoa.

According to the website, the cause of the outage is under investigation.

A caller to the 0800 SUNLIVE news hotline says they reported power lines sparking to emergency services earlier.

They say the lines on the corner of Te Paeroa Road were sparking.
